Diana Jean Krall was born in Nanaimo (British Columbia, Canada) in 1964 and is a pianist and singer. She’s known for her contralto vocals and her musical style can be best described as a blend of jazz, traditional pop, and bossa nova. She’s had a stellar career with 12 studio albums, 1 live album, 1 compilation album, 3 video albums, 7 music videos, 1 extended play, 4 singles, 14 promotional singles, and she’s sold over 16 million albums worldwide. 9 of her albums have been certified Gold, 3 platinum, 7 multi-platinum and she’s the the only jazz singer to have 8 albums debuting at the top of Billboard’s Jazz Albums chart. She’s received many accolades including 5 Grammy Awards (for Best Jazz Vocal Performance, Best Jazz Vocal Album, Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s), and 2 for Best Engineered Album - Non-Classical) and 8 Juno Awards. She’s been awarded the Order of British Columbia and also been made an Officer of the Order of Canada. She’s received an honorary Ph.D. in Fine Arts from the University of Victoria and has also been inducted into Canada's Walk of Fame
